I recently attended a "yoga in the classroom" session for teachers that was AMAZING. I am now incorporating yoga into our classroom activities on a daily basis as part of the daily physical activity requirements for Alberta schools. It is a great way to give the kids a "brain break" with all the fitness benefits.
The kids are absolutley loving it. The yoga that we are doing in the classroom is centered completely around increasing inner muscle strength, balance, coordination, muscle endurance, flexibility and focus. The kids are taught about yoga safety and recognizing the limitations of their body to keep the yoga environment safe.
The kids will be doing balance, energizing and strengthing yoga moves.
The kids will have some fun teaching you yoga at home so please be sure to ask them to show you some of the poses and stretches they are learning.
