Dear Parents/Guardians:
In our Social Studies curriculum we have been studying the four
countries of Peru , Ukraine , India
and Tunisia .
The kids are really enjoying learning
so many different things about the cultures around the world.
On Thursday, June 19th our grade 3 classes have planned a “CULTURE
CRAZE” feast. We will be eating from 10:45 – 11:45 am. The kids will not need
much for lunch this day but pack a small lunch as a backup if needed.
IMPORTANT: There are a wide variety of recipes from Peru , Ukraine ,
India and Tunisia that
can be found on the Internet. We are sending
a list of websites for you to look at. This is a fun activity for students to
taste different menu items from around the world. We would really appreciate if parents could
help out by sending in a food dish from one of the four countries. They do not
have to be large food dishes, just enough for the kids to have a little sample.
As well, many cultural food
items can be purchased in the ethnic food section of the grocery store. They are simple to make up and sometimes
already premade.
Please let us know as soon
as possible what food dish you are able to send for our culture craze. Please
note: To make this event successful parental support is needed. Please complete the slip below and return to
school if you are willing to send in a food dish for our “CULTURE CRAZE” feast.
If
food dishes need to be warmed prior to eating we will take care of that. Please return slip by Monday, June 16th!
Thank you.
IMPORTANT
DISH LABEL INFO: If you are sending
dish please make a LABEL for your dish
so
that we know what the dish is and what country it is from. There are NUT,
BANANA,
kiwi and allergies
so if your dish contains NUT, BANANA OR kiwi
please make sure it
says
so on the label for the dish.

In order to make this a successful event parental
contributions are required. Here are a number of web-sites with authentic
recipes and we will leave it up to you to decide what it is you would like to
bring if you choose to contribute to our culture craze. Please note that the
food dishes do not need to be large, they are just for the kids to sample.
