REMEMBRANCE DAY
We have started our focus around REMEMBRANCE DAY.
Remembrance day holds a special place in my heart as I grew up in Lacombe going through all my schooling years with Master Cpl. Byron Greff. He was the last Canadian solider to be killed in Afghanistan. He was an amazing person, who truly fought for what he believed in. He stood up for the rights of others and he was honored to serve Canada as a soldier. He was the type of soldier that was respected by all his comrades. He was the one that was so proud when he saw children from Afghanistan flying their kites in the street because that meant they felt safe enough to play. He will always be honored and remembered as a HERO!
A military memorial for the Canadian soldiers that fought in Afghanistan was placed in Lacombe next to Cpl Byron Greff's resting place.
Below are the links for the REMEMBRANCE DAY videos we have watched in class. The students wanted to have access to them to watch them with their parents. These students are truly learning what it means to honor the importance of what Remembrance Day stands for.
